 ...for the day!

Troubleshooting a font issue. It's so maddening that I've spent HOURS trying to get this stupid fuckin font to show up in Photoshop.

Fuck it. Tomorrow I'll see if I can manually install it.

So, so stupid.

Anyways, I'll just eat my peach and banana in angry silence.

My friend went all out for my 40th birthday on Sunday. She cooked chicken chilaquiles and baked a raspberry cheesecake :)

We're both fully vaccinated so we were finally able to meet up. It just took over a year. We ate, we talked and then we visited a beautiful walking trail in Anaheim Hills. Didn't make it to the actual reservoir, but the nature center was enough, plus I wasn't dressed for an extended walk/hike.

I got home and a 27" ViewSonic monitor was waiting for me!! Courtesy of my friend. Just awesome!

The monitor can pivot! Ideally, it would be nice if I had the space to position the monitor horizontally, but since I don't, positioning it vertically is fine.

Unfortunately, the included cables aren't compatible with my computer so I have to wait a day to receive the proper cable before I can use it. What's one more day?

This outing was much needed on my part. It was nice to connect, in person with another human being (besides my mother and sister).

So my OneDrive and usb drives were in a state of complete chaos. I had years worth of data in various folders labeled "Misc" and subfolders within the Misc folders labeled "Misc1," "other," and "Untitled," lol.

It took me the entire weekend to sort through all that mess, but I'm glad I finally did it. Now all my usb drives are empty and all my info is in the correct place.

During the organization process I found so many gems! I found my tumor image (yes, I'm morbid, lol), and some VERY old artwork and early design projects.

The tumor image was from my unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy surgery I had six years ago. The image is the benign tumor that completely encased my ovary.

Yup.

Show and tell is over, back to what I was doing :)

UGH!

It's that time of year for seasonal allergies to strike. I would love spring except for all the damn pollen swirling around making me miserable. Insert COVID and now every little sniffle, or chill, or sore throat makes me freak out. Hay fever is not fun. Unlike COVID, allergies/hay fever resolve with antihistamines.

Went to my electrolysis consult. Good news, it's very likely my face and abdomen will get approved. Bad news, my lower legs, chest and upper arms will mostly likely not.

Eh, it's fine. At least they will cover something. In the past, medical insurance companies did not cover ANY hair removal procedures, so the fact they now do is like having an early Christmas present. I'll take what I can get :)
...

Still enjoying my Surface Studio 2 even after an update that made it semi laggy. It's fine now, but sheesh it was annoying.

Still plugging away at that toucan illustration. It's 98% done. If I actually spent more time on it, it would be done by now. I'm too busy job searching, learning motion graphics, being the family chauffer and trying to lose weight to fully devote time to illustration. I need to find a way to better manage my time.

I LOVE the sketchbook app interface, but I HATE it's lack of advanced features. What kills it for me is the inability to mask layers, link other types of files like smart objects and it's weak soft/air brush. But I suppose it never was meant to be a Photoshop like tool. Too bad, it would kick major ass if it did incorporate those Photoshop like features.

CSP, so far is pretty awesome, but I kinda hate the interface. If they would, say, change the interface to mirror Sketchbook's that would be great. Anyways, CSP has a lot of advanced features that Sketchbook does not, including masking and 3D reference posing! Of course I haven't figured how to use the 3D feature yet, but I will...eventually, lol.

I LOVE that's it's a big beautiful touchscreen, drawing device and desktop in ONE device.

I loved me some Wacom, BUT I don't have the room for a main computer (PC or Mac) plus a Cintiq. Yes, I know I could've gotten a iMac with a Wacom Intuos/Bamboo connected tablet, but after having the Surface Pro 4 for four years (directly drawing on the screen) I can't go back.

In my opinion Wacom still has the better pen tech, BUT I discovered using Clip Studio Paint has eliminated ALL the line jitter. So I'm guessing with the Surface pen it's less the tech and more of a software/driver issue?

I still prefer using Sketchbook because of it's simple and clean interface, but man CSP the strokes are smooth like butter. Haven't done any digital painting in Photoshop in YEARS, but then again I haven't done much of any kind of art in the last four years.

ADOBE RELEASES BETA SOFTWARE!!! Stupid After Effects

As annoying as this is it keeps me preoccupied while the VERY close election drags on.
