My Journey

2016 continues to fuck with us, and will for some time to come. I just wish a higher percentage of our population would actively participate in the election process. Showing up every four years to vote for the presidential ticket is a start, but it's not going to change anything. We have three branches of government, the executive branch is only one part. We need to be more proactive in electing Democratic/Independent House Reps and Senators. Without the necessary numbers Democrats will not have the votes to do much of anything to counter the onslaught of right-wing attacks that threaten the core of our democracy.

I can understand the apathy of some voters, really I do, but considering we have just been plunged back into the stone age, I say it's time to get over yourself and vote. Today, it's women's reproductive rights being taken away, maybe tomorrow it'll be same-sex marriage. I'm sure this is only the beginning.

My thoughts turn to women who live in red states. Unless they have the means to move, they are fucked. I'm sorry, but it's true. Other than move, what else can be said? Don't get pregnant? Better hope you don't get raped or have some medical emergency that requires abortion? Good lord what a fucked up situation.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief that I live in liberal California and that I still have the right to choose, for however long that lasts.

It's sad when a gun has more rights than a woman.
