This was my Christmas gift to myself. I've always wanted to do it, just kept putting it off.

Racial Background
Going in I already knew I was going to get a combination of Black, Indigenous and some White since my father is African American and my mother is from El Salvador.

Expectations
Even though my father is Black what I expected from his side was some White due to slavery and a good amount of Native American ancestry. Growing up, my father was adamant how much Native American blood (Choctaw) his family has. My father does look "mixed" so I believed it.

On my mother's side I was expecting a lot of European ancestry since her father's family was from Spain with a good portion of Native/Indigenous. Due to colorism/racism, no one ever admitted her mother, my grandmother was Indigenous, which is insane. Just looking at my grandmother it was fairly obvious she had a substantial amount of Native in her.

Results
I inherited the following from each parent:

Father
35% Black
14% European
1% Indigenous North American

I literally cackled when I saw that 1% Indigenous on my father's side. If I inherited 1%, then it's a good chance he only has 2% Native American, lololol. Hey, it still can be from the Choctaw Tribe. Based on the results, I estimate my father is about 70% Black, 28% European, 2% Native American. I wasn't expecting so much European on his side, but I shouldn't be surprised since the stain that was slavery is evident in our DNA.

Mother
25% Indigenous North and Central American
13% European
8% Black
4% Jewish

Yup. That whopping 25% Indigenous is spot on based on what my grandmother looked like. If I inherited 25%, then it's a good chance my mother is 50% Indigenous, which would make my grandmother 100% indigenous. DAMN.

I'm a little surprised to see a lower percentage of European on my mothers side. Sure, it could just mean I inherited a smaller share of it, but still. I think it's funny that my Black father contributed a larger share of white than my very fair mother. But then again, would the 2% European and Eastern Mediterranean Jewish bit be considered European/White? Maybe? Looks like I'm using race and ethnicity interchangeably, which is probably incorrect. So...

Another thing I wasn't expecting was inheriting 8% Black and 4% Jewish from my mom! This could explain the curly hair my aunts and 2nd cousins inherited. My mom has bone straight hair, I have curly hair :)

Based on the results, I estimate my mom is about 50% Indigenous/Native, 26% European, 16% Black, 8% Jewish.

Who Am I?

43% African/Black
27% European/White
26% Indigenous/Native
4% Jewish

I will still call myself a Black woman, that will never change, but I can appreciate all the other parts that make me, me :)

Edited to add: Ok, since I'm lazy I asked Gemini to breakdown my results only based on race:
