PSSHT...William LeGate is correct. It's not verification, when any asshole with a credit card and phone number can get a blue checkmark and pretend to be someone else. Twitter already has a problem with misinformation and now...

If Twitter had a competent CEO that wasn't desperately looking for a cash grab, he/she would introduce a separate add-on paid service that includes premium features for all users.

Like it or not, those who are notable such as an organization, entertainer, brand, etc. need actual verification to let users know they are the legit thing. Why is that concept so difficult for some people to understand?

In the screenshot it shows a "paid" vs "verified" user because I installed a Chrome extension called "Eight Dollars."
