Hmmm, I gave it some thought and it's really hard to give artistic advice these days. It took me ten years find Etsy success and it was a lot of dart throwing. My #1 item is a printable plain Jane annual calendar. I don't like it's so successful when I have many interesting things to buy, but I'll take it :-D
My Zazzle used to be successful until the Google's Project Panada came along. Now it feels like an accident if someone buys on Zazzle :-D Some people have success on RedBubble--my last payout may have been 20 cents, LOL! Society6 has never sold anything.
So it's hard to say--is there not enough time to thrown at a website? Are we using the wrong keywords? Are we being defeated by algorithms? Ahhhhhhhh!
If it makes you feel better, New Job once hired a guy with a PhD in stats to find the magic formula for stock photography and he couldn't find it either. Our top selling keyword was "relaxing" though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
