My Replacement Reached Out

Gosh, I don't know what else to call her, lol. I guess I can refer to her as my colleague. Anywho, she reached out for design/technique guidance, which is fine. I'm always happy to help a fellow designer out.

Unfortunately, her experience is going as expected, which isn't great. Actually, it would seem her current experience is worse than mine. Apparently being called "a mediocre designer" doesn't instill a lot of confidence and love for the company. I doubt she is a "mediocre designer." Yes, she doesn't have a plethora of design experience, but I've seen some of her work and it's fine for a corporate setting. The problem isn't with her, or with me or some of the past designers, it's the way the organization functions, the lack of direct communication, and nonexistent lead times. You give the designer poor direction, you get a poor product. This is not rocket science.

Her "I want to quit" milestones are nearly identical to mine, lol. Now, I warned told my former boss if organizational issues are not addressed and fixed, the next designer will quit. And here we are exactly one year later with a new designer, that wants to quit, lol.

Oh no!! I have seen this a lot in all my years too. Either there's one designer/web person that everyone gloms onto and no one can do it better than them. Or, there's just the general sense that the design/web team sucks and no one even tries to work with you :P

Or, someone fancies themselves a designer and makes something in Word or Canva *facepalm*

There's never a shortage of stories!
